Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".

'You have been advised yt the watchmaker’s Medals are gone to Venice. I have to add; on these Terms, viz. 200 Cur[ren]t dollars down, & 300 more to be pd in 15 months, or the medals to be returned: & wtever they are sold for more, (vain Ignormamus!) the profit to be divided between the watchmaker & the Adventurer. The supposed Otho, wth a few others (nigro simillima Cygno) are for a Muster, & open. The rest are Incog, & under seal, wth a noli me tangere, & the Buyer must trust the Catalogue. In case the ship be lost the Wmaker has recd 200$, & is to make no father Demand on the Person yt bought them. A proper Person indeed to buy medals! An ignorant Pettyfogger (a Venetian) that can neither write nor read. I need say no more concerning Mr Birds Medals; having written you at large, March 9th, & forwarded yor medals, wth my own, to Mr Stamper, at Stambol, the 22d of Feb, there to wait your orders.'
