'[It is] almost impracticable here in the Country to make a compleat Collection or Series of the Roman Coins, [and so he has therefore disposed of them.] ... [I am now] very desirous of getting all the Gold, Silver, or Copper, English, Irish, or Scotch money’s since the Conquest – and have satisfied my curiosity in having picked up a g^d number.'
