Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".

Apologises for not replying sooner, explaining that he hasn’t found any more consular medals ‘nor finding the note which I casually mislayed, wherein the prices of the gold medals I mentioned were set down’. Discusses various coin books. Difficulty of explaining changing Roman weights and values…’for the Romans at first (as it’s reported) used a sort of money made of leather, & afterwards Numa caused brass money to be coined.’ Has procured a parcell of 128 ‘Imperiall medals’ including Julia Paula and Orbiana and various late emperors. (BL, Sloane MS 3962, ff.256-7; Burnett 2020b, pp. 370-1)
