Hon^d S^r
I did my self y^e Pleasure to write you under 2^d May, & by a Mess of 13^th recommended a little Parcell of Brass Coyns to M^r Lisle in order to desire yo^r Inspection. They are too dark for me who have neither good eyes nor Glasses. By M^r Paul on board Leonardo I enclosd a Medal FAΣΤΙΩΝ for you w^ch I met w^th by great Chance. tis a little coin perfect but I p’sume well worth buying. Besides this I have been able to do no great Teirs (?) for you. Every Thing y^t I have seen being too comon. Nevertheless to avoid y^e Charge of Negligence, I have adventurd to Purchase 4 other coyns w^th y^e shield & canthara & 4 or 5 smaller town Pieces, in all about 25 drachms. I can’t readily make any acco^t for em bec. they were bought at different Prizes & Places, & y^refore had rather Barter w^th you if you have any Thing to spare. I find y^e Purchase fro’ Aleppo is gone out of o^r Hands, & faln into Bro^r Owen’s, altho, in my poor Opinion, at a most extravagant Price (more than p’ 100 for w^ht was containd in our Catalogue) some rare ones I conceivd to be in it, but y^e greatest part Trash. He desires y^e Catalogue may be returnd & tis gone forward p’ last Mess. I have made enquiry about Consul Pilkington’s Packet w^ch went thro’ my Hands, & you may depend upon’t y^t it arrivd at Aleppo, since y^e Letters y^t went wth it are acknowledged. Yo^r last favour to me was written in Hast & is somewhat Concise in one Place & in a Material Point, y^e way of Judging y^e value of Greek Medals. I have desird my Bro^r Lisle to gett it illustrated by some small comments.
Be pleasd to cast yo^r Eyes on a Piece I sent amongst my duplicates, it has ΧΙΩΝ in y^e area, & bears a monster in y^e other side w^ch I don’t understand, it seems to be sphinx join’d w^th an Eagle & some Inscription round it like ΑΣ ΣΑ ΡΙΑ ΔΙΩ. P’ 1^st good opportunity yo^r silver shall proceed. I am

I think you are somewt indebted to M^r Stamper p’ Carr’ of Medals from Alepp’. did you ever pay a trifling Sum of 2 or 3 zelotes to M^r March on y^t Score? Or shall I enquire about it & pay it here?
