'Belgrade, Octo 20 1716
Honrd Sr
You have obligd me by ye Pains you have taken to gratifie me in yor Letter of ye 1st Instant & ye Catalogue yt attended ye Medals; &, to say ye Truth, wthout yor Assistance my Cabinet would shine more yn my understanding. Altho some part of yor Labour has been unnecessary, for several of those Medals you have decipher’d (wch seem so plain as not to need it) were sent as duplicates for yor Service & were distinct fro’ ye rest, & I suppose by some Accident became mixt together. The silver Coyns you mention will add to my stock & be acceptable, (except ΙΣΤΙΑΙΕΩΝ) ye rest are ΤΑΡΕΝΤΩΝ, ΗΡΑΚΛΕΟΥΣ ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ ΘΑΣΙΩΝ, ΑΡ ΓΕ, 2 serpentes intorti X. serpens e’ cista exiliens, ΜΑΣΣΑΛΙΗΤΩΝ; caput Iovis Ammon’ X Plante Silphiu’! As for an exact Adjustmt of or accot I cannot give you, partly bec. I am fled fro’ ye Plague to ye Village & at a distance fro’ my Papers, but I have sent you the Weight in some former Letters, & partly bec they were purchasd some at 8 per’ p’ drachm, others at an Asper more, so yt if you recollect ye Weight please to make up ye accot of wt remainder may be a little more or less. The Julia Domna of Parlais is better disposd of yn if it were wth me. You will excuse my Brevity wn I tell you yt I am again relapsd into my old Distemper, ye Ague, wch regularly attends me after about a months Cessation. I am wth all possible respect
