Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".
'I am in weekly expectance of haveing a good collection of Saxon Coins (in a fair Cut) from Scotland. Mr Sutherland has been lately at Glasgow on this single Errand; and he’s now in Fife, whence he promises to bring us all the Treasure (in this kind) that either Aberdene or S. Andrews will afford us. He sayes, he has 44 in his own possession; which are not in Camden, and which he is now engraveing. He sent me a Specimen of the Abillities of the young man whom he employs to take the draughts; and indeed he does this work very curiously. I am in no condition of procureing any such Assistance here; and therefore I have (herewith) sent you such original pieces as are in my small Collection, and for your purpose. As soon as you are done with them, you will return them to me by some safe hand.'
