Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".
'I give some account of a Collection of Coins and Medals in the hands of Mr Sutherland, Keeper of the Physick-Garden at Edinburgh. He has 680 Roman Denarii (Consular and Caesarean with different Reverses; and yet sometimes above twenty of the same Emperor. Al these, as he’s inform’d, have been found in Scotland.... He has likewise a complete Set of our English Coins since the Conquest; and about twenty Saxon pieces. He also has a good Number of foreign pennies.... He has the pennies, Groats, etc. of Scotland from Alexander the First downwards....'
