Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".
'Stukeley's more general work on ancient British coins, the MSS of which amount to some 200 folios. The work was left in several drafts and unfinished, several chapters existing only by their titles. It covered familiar ground, starting from Abraham and stressing the religious significance of the coins for Britain’s early history. The main interest here is that Stukeley had, however, completed several descriptions for coins for the plates (ff.30–9, 150–1, 161–92). The descriptions are, predictably, often fanciful.'
