Observations (Guy Meyer) : Bouhier renvoie dans cette note aux Acta eruditorum, anno MDCCXXI, « Jo. Georgii Eccardi epistola de Nummis quibusdam sub regimine Theoderici Ostrogothorum regis in honorem Imperatorum Zenonis et Anastasii cusis, ad Maxime Reverendum D. Anselmum Bandurum, monach. Benedict. et Magni Etruriæ Ducis bibliothecæ præfectum, Hanveræ, 1720 », p. 353 : CONOB ergo in ima posticæ parte comparens hic non Constantinopoli sed Conio. S. Iconio Augusti osignatam monetam designare arbitratur ». Les lettres CONOB etc. firent l'objet d'apres discussions au début du XVIIe siècle, cf. « Sur les lettres CONOB, ou COMOB, qui se trouvent à l'exergue des médailles d'or du bas Empire », Histoire de l'Académie des Inscriptions, I, 1717, p. 263-270, à la suite de deux dissertations, l'une de Vaillant le Père, présentée en 1706 et l'autre par son fils Jean-François Foy-Vaillant sur des documents rassemblés par son père, en 1707, avec la polémique qui s'en suivit.
