'Mr Greaves in his Description of ye Roman denarius mentions an Attick Drachme of his, found in the Black Sea, wth this Inscription, ΑΘΕΤΙΝΑΡΝΙΚΑ ΑΡΧΕ, wch shews that Livy l. 37 c. where the Description of the Naval Triumph of L. Aemilius is given Tinarnica is to be read & not tetradrachma as is conjectur’d by Budaeus & Rhodoginus; wch is also confirm’d by the first Edition of Livy, wch has teracina, wch is an errour that came wthout doubt from the carelessness of ye Scribe. Ask Sr Andrew Fountaine abt this. – I shew’d him this Particular, & he immediately thought it should be rather ΑΘΕΝΑΙΩΝ ΤΙΝΑΡΝΙΚΟS ΑΡΧΙΕΡΕVS. But supended [his] positive Judgmt.'
