'Sir Andrew [Fountaine] also tells me that after he had drawn up his Excellt Dissertation conc. the Saxon Coyns, pr. at ye End of Dr Hickes’s Thesaurus, he sent it up to the said Dr Hickes that he might revise it; upon wch ye Dr drew up a Diss. of his own & sent it to Sr Andrew, who however did not think fit to publish it as the Dr had done it, but printed it exactly as he had drawn it up himself, only wth this Alteration that whereas before he had said nothing of the Catalogue of the MSS, he now added studio aut saltem auspicio viri istius Doctissimi, meaning Dr Hickes, the said Dr having put it in ye Diss. he sent him studio & cura, intimating yt he had been at ye whole care and pains of doing this Catalogue, wch is pr. under Humph. Wanley’s Name.'
