'With the D. of Devonshire, to deliver him a large gold medal, weighing 3 oz 18 purchased at Briscoe’s in Cheapside on Friday, which had been presented in 1689 to Capt. afterwards Admiral George Rooke, in acknowledgement for having protected, in the Deptford man of war, five Dutch homeward bound East India men, through the Chanel.'
