«Ne' miei studi ho sempre procurato di conoscere gli autori, che hanno scritto in essi. Mi pare che ciò risparmi molto di fatica, e che dia la maniera migliore di vedere l'estensione della materia, cosa è stato fatto, e quello che resta a fare. Biblioteca nummaria del padre Bandurio. In conseguenza dovendo rivolgermi all'antiquaria, e specialmente allo studio delle medaglie, e delle gemme cerco di fornirmi di biblioteche, e per le prime ho acquistata la Biblioteca nummaria del padre Bandurio della ristampa fattane dal Fabbricio nel 1719 a Amburgo».
