“L’abate Giuseppe Eckel, ex-gesuita, il quale riordinò nel 1773 le medaglie della Real Galleria, ha stampata a Vienna ne’ mesi passati un’opera che ha qua mandata, e che contiene l’illustrazione di una quantità di medaglie aneddotte del Gabinetto Imperiale, del nostro, e di pochi altri. Ella gioverà molto, e faciliterà la descrizione che vado facendo, ma veramente è scritta con rozzezza, e pessimo stile, diffetto per giusti riguardi tacerò nell’annunziarla nelle Novelle Letterarie” (Florence, Biblioteca nazionale centrale, N.A. 1050, Efemeridi, s.
